No muck – just brass!!
Drovers’ Day in Wetherby is a wonderful annual musical event bringing together tradition and history. This year, 20 of the north’s traditional brass bands will be marching and playing to remember the times when, for over 200 years, 1000s of cattle, accompanied by drovers and their dogs, were walked from gathering points in Scotland to markets in the south of England via Wetherby with its bridge and ford over the River Wharfe. Cattle will not be present (health and safety) so no muck……but plenty of brass!!
This much anticipated event is organised by two charities – the Wetherby Riverside Bandstand Trust and Wetherby District Lions that appreciate tremendous support from local businesses, from Leeds and Wetherby councils and from the local community.
The day brings the community together to watch and listen to fantastic bands and to learn about a forgotten part of Wetherby’s history.
